HOUSTON — Father's Day is coming, and it's an excellent opportunity to appreciate our dad and take him for a day out. There's a lot of things you can do, and the possibility is limitless— but here are some ideas to get you started:

    1. Go fishing
Fishing has always been a dad's thing. But stereotypes and tropes aside, if you and your dad genuinely love fishing, one of the fishing spots you can visit in town is Thompson's Fishing Camp.

Located not too far from Houston at 213 Simms Rd, Baytown, this fishing spot is located among four different saltwater bays that stream down into Galveston Bay, Cedar Bayou, and Goose Creek. The camp has about 100 spots, and it costs you $20 to fish in one of them. It also provides boats, fresh live baits, and some drinks for you to enjoy while fishing.

    2. Go to a local brewery
Breweries are easy to find in Houston, and our pick for this kind of activity is B-52 Breweries at 12470 Milroy Ln, Conroe, also not too far from Houston.

This family-owned brewery serves local craft beer, wooded Biergarten, fire pit, outdoor seating, bottles and cans to go, wine, cider, and also non-alcoholic beverages for you and your father to sip on. On this Father's Day, they will be holding Father's Day Market on Saturday, June 19.

    3. Go to a distillery
If your dad is into spirits, the 8th Wonder Distillery might be a good place. There will be a Father's Day Steak Brunch on June 20 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This brewery is located at 2201 Dallas St, Houston.

This distillery provides vodka, hop-infused gin, rum, and hand-selected whiskeys. On the Father's Day Steak Brunch, Chef Mike Grisby's cook will prepare cajun and creole cuisines.

    4. A gun class at George Ranch
Located at 10215 FM 762 Rd, Richmond, this ranch is a perfect place to take your dad for a gun class in Pioneer Gun Class. You both will learn how to load and shoot replicas of wide varieties of guns and rifles.

They hold the class at 10.30 a.m., 12.30 p.m., and 2.30 p.m. The ranch only allows a few people per class, so you might want to book first. Contact Susan Vanderford at 281-343-0218 ext. 278.

    5. A Father's Day special from Goode Co. Grocery

If you plan to stay at home for the day, considering we're still in a pandemic. You can give your dad Goode Company's Father's Day Special Edition pack.

For this special event, they provide a limited edition Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie. Ensure you order the pie long before June 20 since they want to guarantee the package to arrive on Father's Day. The store also provides a grilling kit, grade-A butcheries, cocktail kits, and dry goods.
