Gertie’s was named the Best Whiskey Bar in Tennessee by Thrillist, and offers over 600 bottles of rare and hard to find whiskeys. They have two locations: Nashville + Louisville, their newest location. You'll love the NuLu 92 (roku gin, prosecco, basil syrup, lemon, st. germain, angostura bitters) and the Magic + Smoke (cutty sark prohibition, ginger honey syrup, lemon, hoodoo liquer).

2. Hell or High Water

Hell or High Water is one of Louisville's coolest speakeasies. Located downtown, it has received acclaim in Thrillist, Food & Wine, VOGUE, and Playboy. On the "Hell" side of the menu, you'll love the About Thyme (reposado tequlia, bianco vermouth, thyme, amaretto); as for the "Highwater" offerings, I most recommend the Pardon My French (absinthe, lemon gin, green chartreuse, honey, lemon, ginger syrup).

A newer spot for St. Matthews, Never Say Die is making quite the plunge into the Louisville Bar Scene. Try the Eazy-E (coconut-washed mezcal, ginger, mandarin orange, coconut reduction, ginger-lime foam) or the Hondamatic (vodka, mango saki, elderflower, pineapple, lemon, house sorbet, coconut).

The Over Look at Rabbit Hole Distillery features a wonderful downtown view -- complete with a plethora of fantastic pours! You'll love their bourbon & ryes -- however, I think the star is their London Dry Bespoke Gin!
