Take A Trip To Michigan's Most Remote Brewery

About 30 miles off the coast of Charlevoix, in Lake Michigan, is an island where this very remote brewery sits. The island is called, Beaver Island. This may just be one of the hardest breweries to reach in the entire coutry, but isn't that what makes it so cool?

There are not many other desolate places, specifically an island, that have a brewery waiting for visitors. Whiskey Point Brewing Company is a nano-brewery, small winemaker, and a destination taproom all in one. So the brewing comany does it all, as beyond craft beer, they also offer homemade fruit wines and spritzers as well.

In many ways, this brewing company is the most remote brewery in Michigan. Whiskey Point Brewing Company is one of the few island-based brewery in the Greak Lakes, and the first and only in Lake Michigan. Craft beer is a very big business in Michigan and only until recently have a brewery like such, been off a mainland.

Patrick McGinnity, founder and head brewer, started Whiskey Point Brewing Company only as an idea a few years back, but quickly turned it into a business plan, and to then to reality. It is not unusual to see a new brewery popping up in Michigan. But it is unusual to see one in a place like Beaver Island.

As far as the location goes, once you set foot on the island, there is only one road to get to the Point. Whiskey Point Brewing Company is right on your way to the point, so there is absolutely no way to get to the Point without driving past this restaurant.

Jump on a 20-minute plane ride or a 2-hour ferry ride, to get yourself to Beaver Island and see for yourself what Whiskey Point Brewing Company is all about.

About Beaver Island

Beaver Island is the largest island in Lake Michigan, the populations year-round is only 600. Although being desolate, Beaver Island hosts many activities for nature lovers and has a very laid back and relaxed lifestyle. When visiting the island, many tour the island by bicycle, but you can bring your car over on the ferry or rent a car to explore the island. Because of the location in the middle of northern Lake Michigan, Beaver Island has one of the darkest skies in the United States which is perfect for star gazing.
