I love going to Tender Greens whenever I'm in the mood for a healthy or light dinner.

They offer plates, salads, bowls, sandwiches, sides, desserts, meals for kids and more.

Currently, they have a new plate, Steak Frites this month, featuring grilled flank steak with a chimichurri sauce, French fries, aioli, and arugula salad topped with a lemon vinaigrette dressing. Anything with steak sounds good to me and I have yet to try this dish but if it's anything like the rest I know it'll be phenomenal.

In terms of plates, the way it works is you pick a protein, the options are salt and pepper chicken, chipotle bbq chicken, buttermilk fried chicken, seared tuna (my favorite), steak or salmon.

    The calories are all listed.

Next, you pick one green, (baby greens, spinach, kale, arugula, romaine or butter lettuce).

Finally, pick a side. Brown rice, mashed potatoes, or seasonal veggies. I always opt for the veggies, they're grilled and delicious.

If you're feeling a salad, try their Mediterranean steak salad which is 800 calories with Feta, tomato, pickled cucumber, green olives, herbs, baby greens, lemon vinaigrette. Their Harvest chicken salad is also really good with salt & pepper chicken, pistachios, berries, stone fruit, hibiscus pickled onions, ricotta, red romaine & arugula with our golden balsamic vinaigrette.

My all time favorite is their Tuna Nicoise salad, with Tomato, potato, capers, green bean, egg, olives, baby greens, sherry vinaigrette and only 650 Calories.

They even have a vegan option for salad, it's called Happy Vegan and it has Farro with cranberry & almonds, quinoa with cucumber & beets, green hummus, tabbouleh, baby greens, lemon vinaigrette coming in at 868 Calories.

In terms of sandwiches they do change them, but a favorite one is their fried chicken sandwich with cabbage slaw pickles, chili aioli on a brioche bun.

The Santa Monica location is a mere few blocks away from the beach so it's a perfect spot to grab some food and go spend the afternoon by the ocean.
