No bear ain’t stopping California girl from walking her dogs

    2021-06-07

When a fully grown bear attacks your dogs, what would you do? In a Los Angeles backyard, a brave lady fought against a protective mama grizzly who clawed at her family’s pets, according to viral video.

Video footage uploaded Monday on Facebook shows Hailey Morinico, risking her life by confronting the brazen beast as it perched with its pups on top of a dividing wall in the hamlet of Bradbury, near the Angeles National Forest near Los Angeles.

The bear swiped at one of the family’s four dogs until Morinico ran outdoors and threw the animal off the wall just seconds after it slapped at another. The teen then grabbed one of the dogs and bolted for safety, as shown in the video.

Citlally Morinico, Morinico’s mother, posted on Facebook, “My child [Hailey] just saved our dog with superhuman strength.” “One of the most terrifying experiences of my life.”

After hearing the dogs start barking outside, Hailey said in a social media video that she “fought off” the bear to “protect my kids” during the incident. She assumed it was another dog or a squirrel who had agitated their pets.

Take a look at the video and let us know if you think it was a brave move or just plain stupidity.

What would you have done in that situation? Have you ever had any close encounter with a wild animal? We'd love to hear about it below.

“And when I go over there to see what they’re barking at, I’m like, that’s a strange-looking dog,” Hailey remembered. “And by the time I arrive, the bear has taken up residence in one of my dogs.”

Valentina, the teen, said the bear also swatted at the smallest dog in the pack.

“She is the baby, and as her slave, I have to protect her,” Hailey recounted, adding that she made the decision to shove the bear right away, staring it down.

“Push a bear, push an apex predator, man,” Hailey remarked, adding that the female bear, which looked to be uninjured by the shove, didn’t put up much a struggle and withdrew soon.

“And to be honest, I don’t think I pushed her hard enough,” Hailey concluded. “I just pushed her hard enough for her to lose her footing.”
