Older Virginians still remember when John Allen Muhammad and 17-year-old Lee Boyd Malvo terrorized Maryland, DC, and Virginia. They killed ten people and wounded three others over three weeks in October 2002.

Muhammad was put to death in 2009 for the murders, and Malvo was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

    About Lee Boyd Malvo

WTOP News reported that Lee Boyd Malvo, now 39 years old, has been transferred from Red Onion State Prison, a supermax facility in Wise County, Virginia, to Keen Mountain Correctional Center in Oakwood, Virginia. This Security Level 4 facility is for inmates with no disruptive behavior for at least the past 24 months.

Malvo's transfer comes after more than 20 years of incarceration in the state’s highest-security prison and two years after he was denied parole on August 30, 2022.

Malvo’s resentencing is set to begin on December 2, 2024, in Montgomery County Circuit Court in Christiansburg, Virginia.

Sidebar: it only took about 7 years to put John Allen Muhammad to death, but other egregious offenders get to live an additional 25+ years?!! Death penalty convictions that have absolutely no reasonable doubt should be carried out more swiftly. Just a thought.
