    Newport Beach

This is a very popular place and the best thing about it? The weather is amazing! You'll be able to have fun no matter what the season, and you can go swimming in the nearby Newport Pier. The beach is also great for surfing (as you'll see from the huge surfboard that's at the entrance) as well as kite surfing, and you'll also find some great restaurants along the way. There's something for everyone here, so if you're visiting California then this beach is definitely one of our favourites!

La Joalla Cove - San Diego

This is located in the La Jolla area, and it's just a 1-minute drive from the famous La Jolla Cove. It has a bar and a restaurant, and it's situated in a nice little cove. One of the best things about this place is that you can see dolphins right off the beach! This particular place is ecologically protected, which means that it's managed by the National Park Service, and it's also great for sea turtle nesting. It is also the home of a world-famous dive site that is located in the La Jolla ecological preserve. If you want a clean and quiet place to relax in California, this is one of the best beaches for you.

    Santa Monica Bay

This beach is so good that no one will be able to resist it and it's the perfect getaway for anyone who wants to enjoy some peace and quiet. That's not all; the landscapes are also amazing, and you can even see seals swimming right off the beach! The sand is really clean and beautiful and you can also do some amazing activities such as kite surfing or calmer ones like whale watching. This is one of the most popular beaches in Los Angeles, there are a few restaurants across the street to take a break from the sun and enjoy some local food, and it's also really close to the Malibu Marina. One downside? It can get too crowded!

    Pfeiffer Beach

This beach is located in Big Sur. It's a beautiful and vast beach that is bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the rocky cliffs of Bixby Canyon. The area surrounding the beach has some amazing features such as tide pools and waterfalls, which make it a really interesting place to visit. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of whales! There's no better feeling than relaxing on this beautiful beach, so don't miss out on it!

A few downsides? It is extremely windy, so there is a chance that your hat will blow away and you may never see it again. The road to get there is really narrow so be prepared to manoeuvre in close proximity when you meet another vehicle. It costs $10 to enter but it is totally worth it!

    Venice Beach

If you're visiting Los Angeles or Santa Monica, then this is one of the best places to spend your day off! There's live music almost every evening as well as plenty of street performers to keep everyone entertained. You can even enjoy some delicious seafood here in one of the many restaurants or grab a coffee from a local vendor. It is also close to Santa Monica Pier, so you can visit that as well!

Don't forget to take a few pictures of the incredible Venice Beach boardwalk; it's absolutely amazing! The beach itself is clean and calm, and there's plenty of parking available making it an ideal spot to stay for the day. A warning: There are often people offering artwork on the boardwalk (or other things), but those prices are WAY too high. Be careful what you buy as they might try to take advantage of your ignorance on prices.
