Ever since I found out this would be a St. Patrick weekend, I decided to do a round up and see what’s in the works. McKinney is my top destination for every event, so this was the very first place I headed to mix in a sea of green, some unexpected blue, plus a cute fashion trend.

A hat is just a hat, a dream is only a possibility until the right time comes

That’s what St. Patrick’s day in McKinney made me think of. This was my first time celebrating this event in the area, so all I saw was a cool thing to add to memories and share more of the spring beginning along with shamrocks, green clothes, sunglasses, jewelry, and treats.

What was the vibe in McKinney?

You know how you feel all your cares wiped away the minute you set foot in the Central Square in McKinney? St. Pat’s Day did that and then some! Everyone was laughing and singing along, there was live music in several places, and such a wave positive energy in the air.

Like being mellow, at your ease, and doing exactly what you feel. The beer tasting tour was going on, with little lists for several locations where you could have your sip and a nice chat with the owners.

Cakes and decorations, smashing green in the center

As I moved to the green area set to the side of the City Hall, I immediately spotted special tents with treats! I was very happy to see one of them had Bundt cakes with 4 flavors! The icing had different colors too, and they were too inviting not to taste a slice.

Walking along the alleys I also discovered green shiny decorations for St. Patrick’s Day, handmade jewelry, hats, plush toys with the lucky shamrock (green puppies with soft paws were my favorite!), I saw people relaxing for a picnic right in the middle of the town, and everyone just doing their thing, no hurry no hassle.

    Blue under my steps

If you thought it was a blue-sky day, no clouds in sight, that wasn’t the case at all! It actually was very clouded, those dark, slightly menacing clouds that were only kept at bay by St. Pat! Even the weather wouldn’t dare act out for the event! Not in McKinney, at least.

    So where was the blue?

Well, it sure wasn’t above and you wouldn’t need to spend minutes with your neck all crooked to spot it. You actually had to bend not to miss it.

    The grass hiding tiny clues

Walking about the tents I often noticed how nice it was to feel the grass again. It wasn’t dry and parched like in the wintertime. The green was making a fast comeback and with it a whole new hue!

The tiniest light blue flowers greeted me as I bent down to see why the grass seemed lighter in a corner! They reminded me of forget-me-knots at home and made me smile. Blue peeking out from all that green was the best sight! And one easy to miss.

I will totally spend more time looking what I step on and moving aside for flowers to get breathing space, too. I wouldn’t want to crush them before they get to enjoy their special sunlight. It’s spring for all!

Live music at the ready, interesting outfits, and a matching hat

I loved hearing music being sung right there in the square everywhere I turned. There were singers in the tents area and then on the sidewalks, in front of different stores, wineries, or restaurants. Each song was adding a new tone to the happy atmosphere and blending them all you got closer to what being in McKinney for an event truly means.

I liked that everyone was trying to get into the mood, with green t shirts, green bags, jewelry, shamrock trinkets, glitter, or all-green outfits.

    Eye-popping color mesh

It wasn’t just the people walking by, dressed for the occasion, and having fun. There was someone else joining and setting the tone! Little green hats could be seen all over, lower than eye level or bending. Who was sporting them?

Pets! Everywhere you could see dogs wearing their very own St. Patrick’s hat, looking groomed and fashionable. And they didn’t mind one bit. The outfit was totally cute and trendy! Here’s for more paws fashion every holiday!

And seeing it in McKinney makes perfect sense. That’s where the cool vibes are, cancelling traffic, inside and outside noise, and turning your thoughts back to what matters: you, your laughter, your loved ones, and all that you need for a great start each day! Happy St. Pat’s!
