Madison, Georgia, is located about an hour east of Atlanta and is half an hour from Athens, Georgia. Visitors to the small, scenic town of Madison often come for the antebellum homes and lush scenery. When visiting Madison, here are the top 10 places to eat.

    Madison Produce Company

For soups, sandwiches, and salads, head to Madison Produce Company. This favored lunchtime destination is the perfect place to meet for lunch or people-watch. You can also take your lunch to-go on sunny days and eat at the outside bistro tables. A short walk will take you to Town Park, a perfect picnic destination.

    Ricardo’s Kouzzina

Ricardo’s offers Italian dishes, salad, steak, and seafood. The menu offers variety, and the customer service is some of the best Madison has to offer. Located across from Town Park, Ricardo’s is perfect for a quiet lunch or date night out.

    R+B Café

While outside of the downtown area, R+B Café is not to be missed on a visit to Madison. The rustic décor is a perfect complement to the southern food served up cafeteria-style. Specials change daily, and although it isn’t within walking distance to downtown, it’s worth the very short drive to stop in for lunch.

    Amici Madison

For pizza, wings, and more, look no further than Amici Madison. This casual dining experience is conveniently located near Town Park and is within walking distance to the local shops and restaurants. It also offers craft beer, a full bar, outdoor games, and live entertainment.

    Adrian’s Place

For a southern soul food experience, drop in at Adrian’s Place for lunch. This cafeteria-style restaurant will serve up meat and two or a vegetable plate and don’t forget to check to see which desserts are available. Its convenient location and friendly service make this an ideal lunchtime destination.

    Farmview Market

For breakfast, brunch, or lunch, you’ll want to drive away from the downtown area, over the Interstate, and head out to Farmview Market for indoor or outdoor dining. Farmview offers traditional southern dishes, salads, sandwiches, and more. While you’re there, visit the market for any of your local shopping needs. Farmview offers locally sourced farm-to-table dining.

    Dolce Caffe

The latest addition to Madison, Dolce Caffe offers Italian dining. While the hours are limited, it is a great choice for lunch or dinner. They also offer outdoor seating and are adjacent to the Post Office in the center of town.

    Tequila’s

For the best in local Mexican cuisine, head to Tequila’s for delicious margaritas, steaming hot fajitas, and tacos perfect for Tuesday (or any day of the week). This casual dining experience offers both indoor and outdoor seating. While it’s not the only Mexican restaurant in town, it is a local favorite.

    Crowe’s Open Air Bar-B-Que & Catering

For your lunchtime BBQ fix, head to Crowe’s. They offer outdoor seating and a window to place orders and pickup. Crowe’s was one of the first restaurants in Madison to close indoor seating and offer a socially distanced pickup option. Follow them on Facebook for special promotions, and if you need to cater an event, Crowe's also has a food truck available to serve your needs.

    Yanmi Kitchen

Yanmi Kitchen doesn’t deliver, but it’s the perfect place to stop for Chinese takeout while you’re visiting Madison. With an extensive and traditional menu, Yanmi offers casual food at reasonable prices, and you can count on friendly service every time. While your fortune may not direct you back to Madison, your taste buds certainly will.

For a small town, Madison has plenty of restaurants to satisfy your cravings. For good coffee and a sweet morning treat, visit Oconee Coffee Roasters behind the James Madison Inn and across from Amici Madison. For upscale dining, visit Town 220—another local favorite. For a quick and nutritious meal on-the-go, visit Madison Square Nutrition for a protein shake or refreshing loaded tea. For dessert, stop by Antique Sweets for a specialty bulldog bite or other handmade chocolate. While you’re finished shopping at antique stores, taking historic home tours, or visiting the local museums, be sure to plan to sample some of the casual and fine dining options Madison has available.

why didn't you mention the Chop House? It is and has always been our favorite place to dine in Madison for lunch or an evening meal. I am disappointed it wasn't listed at all.
