Writing for News Break in The News Break Content Creator Program

2021-01-30

Last year was a challenging year for content creators to gain paid work, especially in the travel niche.

At the start of this year, News Break accepted me into their Content Creator program. I felt delighted and blessed.

News Break is a news app trending in the United States. It delivers local news and current affairs with aggregated content from well-known publishers. With a readership of millions of readers, their interests include breaking news, politics, health, business, travel, and more.

Their continual growth and expansion include conceiving the content creator program. It is designed to help local and independent publishers grow their readership.

"News Break's mission is to support content creation for locals. This program is designed to enable creators to focus on the value of content while we help facilitate steps such as distribution." - Vincent Wu. COO of News Break.

Content creation

News Break allows their content creators to write about anything. My niche is travel writing, and my website encourages living a life of travel. Though at the moment, travel content is not in demand.

Therefore, I have had a unique opportunity to branch out into other styles of writing. I love that I have been able to share content about improving well-being and mental health. My well-being and self-development have been my personal focus for the last six years since I quit my job to travel.

I feel blessed to have this writing opportunity and look forward to growing with the content creator program.

Writing for demand

News Break provides analytics for their content creators. These analytics enable us to see which posts are most read. This information empowers writers to choose to write content based on demand by readers of News Break.

While my travel articles are well received, many people are not traveling. Now is a time to limit travel to essential and local travel activities that allow physical distancing.

I am noticing the articles on self-improvement, mental health, and lifestyle are my most-read articles this last month. It is inspiring to see that people have an interest in improving themselves.

Inspirational writers with motivational messages

Additionally, I love that I have found so many inspiring writers to read who write about their own self-development and their journey into improving their mental health. They openly share their thoughts, tips, and ideas with the public.

Content that makes people feel inspired and motivated is essential in times such as these.

The News Break app features its content creators under 'Featured Stories.'

Travel writing when borders remain closed

So, what about travel writing?

I have noticed some people want to read about local travel, staycations and how they can safely travel during this time.

Armchair travel and travel bucket list articles are of interest to some people. These articles help to inspire people for future travels.

But at some point, looking at photos of places you can only hope to get one day gets a bit tiresome.

Though I am a travel bug, so it doesn't get tiresome for me. Not at all. I happily create travel content all week long, even if it's just Twitter posts reliving past trips.

Therefore, I will write more travel content when in demand by the public.

Motivational quotes

To thank you for reading, I am closing this inspiring month of writing with this compilation of my favorite motivational quotes for you.

I love these motivational quotes because they inspire me to live a better life and, above all else, to be happy.

I hope they inspire and motivate you too!

"Stop worrying about the potholes in the road and enjoy the journey." - Babs Hoffman.
"No matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow." - Maya Angelou.
"We have three roles here on earth: to learn, to love, and to live. When we stop learning, we start to stagnate and die. When we stop loving, we lose our sense of purpose and become self-centered. When we limit our living, we deny the world the benefits of our talents." - Jim Cathcart.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So, throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover." - Mark Twain.
"A bad mood is like bad breath. Both are wrong to inflict onto others." - Dennis Prager.
"What's the point of being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable." - Anonymous.

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people's thinking." - Steve Jobs.
"If you want to be happy, do not dwell in the past, do not worry about the future, focus on living fully in the present." - Roy Bennett.
"Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others. I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can." - Dalai Lama.
"There isn't much room to get sick, be angry, or unhappy when you do something you love all day." - Lewis Howes.
