(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) senior Ethan Spasciani received a 2020 Florida Holocaust Museum Anne Frank Humanitarian Award.

According to the museum Facebook page, “This award recognizes humanitarian actions that better the lives of other individuals or a group. By ‘doing the right thing,’ our recipients hold true to the nature and spirit of Anne Frank, who despite everything she endured, did not abandon her ideals. She wrote in her diary – and I quote – ‘in spite of everything I still believe that people are truly good at heart.’”

Spasciani is very involved in his community and in school.

He completed numerous service accomplishments through National Honor Society (NHS), participated in Student Government Association (SGA), Mustangs for Kids, and the Humane Society of Lakewood Ranch.

“I am extremely appreciative of the nomination and it felt fulfilling to be able to speak with others that are passionate about helping the community,” he said.

Spasciani also mentioned that he is proud of the teams that he has worked with and will continue to work with his classmates now and in the future.

Honorary chair of the Anne Frank Humanitarian Award, retired broadcaster Gayle Sierens, said Spasciani and the other honorees were, “living the museum’s mission by bringing hope and positive change to their schools, their communities and our world.”

Spasciani was nominated by journalism and history teacher Thomas Honsa for his participation in community service and Mustangs for Kids.
