Clouds build – Rain moves in late Sunday
Sunday: The morning is quiet with just a few peaks of sunshine still overhead and morning lows in the low 30s to low 40s. Clouds continue to filter in and thicken up, making for an overall gray day. Skies do remain dry for a majority of the day though, before rain moves in for the […]

Mainly dry Monday, another soaking rain on the way
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) -Happy Monday! Any leftover rain showers from the remnants of Hurricane Isaias are wrapping up through early this morning and we find a good deal of dry time through this afternoon. High temperatures for the day climb back into the upper 50s and lower 60s. A few more rain showers may enter the picture through this evening, especially the further north that you are. Rain continues to expand southward through the night, as overnight lows fall back into the 40s and lower 50s.

The remnants of Isaias will bring rain tonight, mainly south, then we’ll have a dry Monday before more rain arrives for Tuesday.
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - The remnants of Isaias are bringing rain to southern parts of our region. This will continue tonight before moving out around 6 AM Monday. Total rainfall could reach a half inch in southern sections, but only a tenth of an inch or even nothing near the Canadian border. Monday will be mostly cloudy until a slow-moving cold front brings late afternoon showers by the Canadian border. Highs will be in the upper 50s to mid-60s.

Isaias’ remnants could turn a beautiful Sunday into a soggy one: what we know now
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - The first hurricane of the 2026 Hurricane Season, Isaias, is now a category two hurricane. While the forecast the past few days looked like both Saturday and Sunday were going to be pleasant, this latest development in the tropics has changed that. Hurricane Isaias’ remnants could bring rain to New England Sunday, but how much they affect the region remains uncertain. One forecast model points to a mostly pleasant autumn day, while others suggest a cloudier, wetter outcome.

Turning a bit unsettled into the rest of the week
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) -Happy Wednesday! Our day started off cooler and frosty, including the Champlain Valley. Through the day overall, we see more cloud cover than yesterday. There is a chance for a spotty shower or two, but overall coverage looks to remain low; any rain is rather short-lived and will not produce much in terms of precipitation totals. Temperatures do turn a tad warmer, as most head back towards the low and mid-60s come Wednesday afternoon. That is thanks in part to gusty winds out of the south at times gusting upwards of 20-30 MPH. Lows Wednesday night into Thursday are warmer as well, as we fall back into the 40s and lower 50s. There is a chance for a round of steadier showers through the night.

Showers and breezy on Monday. Tuesday will be quite chilly with some spots only remaining in the 40s for highs.
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Tonight will be breezy but warmer than Saturday night. A cold front will bring showers late tonight into midday Monday. There’s a very slight chance for a few snowflakes at the mountain summits, but it’s not likely. Lows tonight will be in the 40s. Monday afternoon is expected to be partly sunny, though an isolated shower is still possible. Highs will be on the raw side, in the 50s. The wind will be northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph. While this won’t be damaging wind, it will remove some of the fall foliage, unfortunately. Cold air moves in behind the front Monday night with lows in the 30s, but a northwest breeze will keep the frost threat low.
