NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A vulture was struck by a vehicle Wednesday in Newington.

According to A Place Called Hope, a wildlife rehabilitation organization, the vulture is suffering from head trauma and both eyes are swollen. No broken bones were found.

Rescuers picked up the vulture from the scene and transported it to APCH Wednesday night.

If the bird heals, wildlife rehabilitators plan to bring it back to the territory it lives in.

Experts said that vultures are often courting during this time of year and they nest in rock crevices or abandoned sheds in Connecticut. The birds typically have two eggs and two babies.

Animal rescuers are asking the public to send good energy this bird’s way.
