Metro provides shuttle buses during D Line subway closure

Maintenance work continues on the D Line subway, which is closed between the Wilshire Western and Wilshire/La Cienega stations through Monday, Nov. 2. The Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Cienega stations are closed. D Line trains are running between Union Station and Wilshire/Western. Line 855 shuttle buses connect riders at the Wilshire/Western Station with the three closed stations. The shuttles run every 10 minutes. Metro Bus Lines 20 and 720 also provide service along Wilshire Boulevard.

Gas prices continue to drop across SoCal

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped for the 26th time in 27 days Wednesday, falling 2.8 cents to $6.045. The average price has decreased 39.4 cents over the past 27 days, including 2.3 cents Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The run of decreases follows a 44-day streak of increases totaling 79.7 cents that brought the average price within 5.4 cents of its record high, $6.493, set Oct. 5, 2022.

High Speed Rail Authority chief resigns after watchdog probe into consultant expenses

The chief executive of the embattled California High Speed Rail Authority resigned suddenly following a watchdog report that found the authority had improperly subsidized luxury travel upgrade and rideshares for consultants. Department of Finance Director Joe Stephenshaw will serve as interim CEO, starting on Tuesday. Chief of Staff Mark Tollefson will be “active” until then, according to comments made at the HSRA Board of Directors meeting Thursday. Ian Choudri announced his resignation Wednesday night in an internal email, which was first reported by CalMatters .
