Weekly Safety Report: Rollover Crash and Unfounded Fire Impact Lincoln County, Maine
This week in Lincoln County, Maine, two incidents occurred that required attention. In the first incident, a 29-year-old man from Randolph was airlifted to Maine Medical Center after a rollover crash on Route 32 in Jefferson. The driver's vehicle left the road, reentered, and crossed the centerline before hitting a rock and flipping over. In the second incident, a fire on Squirrel Island destroyed a maintenance building. The cause of the fire was deemed "unfounded" by the state fire marshal. Firefighters from multiple departments arrived by boat to combat the fully involved building fire.
Arraignment set for man charged with toddler’s Christmas 2022 murder
The man charged in the Christmas Day 2022 death of a 3-year-old Edgecomb girl is scheduled for an arraignment hearing at 11 a.m. Jan. 11 in Lincoln County Unified Criminal Court. Tyler Witham-Jordan, 29, of Edgecomb and Livermore was arrested Oct. 12 after a nearly year long investigation into the death of Makinzlee Handrahan. Witham-Jordan was charged with Depraved Indifference Murder.

Cushing man charged with fentanyl trafficking
ROCKLAND — A Cushing man made his initial court appearance Dec. 1 in Knox County Court after he was arrested by Rockland police for aggravated trafficking in drugs. Christopher Benner, 48, appeared before Judge Sarah Gilbert who set bail at $1,000 cash. A condition of bail includes that Benner must report daily in person to the Thomaston Police Department.

Weekly Safety Report: Arrests and Emergencies in Boothbay Harbor and Wiscasset
Between Oct. 28 and Nov. 26, the Boothbay Harbor Police Department made one arrest for violating a protection order. They also responded to a total of 340 emergencies during this period, including 911 checks, abandoned motor vehicle reports, criminal complaints, administrative matters, burglar alarms, assaults, citizen assistance, and property checks.
Update: Silver Alert Issued for Missing Farmingdale Senior Citizen Located
The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office has announced a Silver Alert for 81-year-old Barbara Loken, a resident of Farmingdale, Maine. Authorities report that Ms. Loken was last seen at approximately 9:45 am on Sunday, November 26, 2023. She departed her residence on Bowman Street, intending to attend church on Hasson Street but never arrived at the destination.
Appreciative of fire response
We want to thank everyone who helped contain the fire on Squirrel Island that occurred on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 19) and into the night. We are so appreciative of all who helped — the Southport Fire Department, the Boothbay Harbor Fire Department, the Boothbay Fire Department, the Coast Guard, and the many volunteers who provided boats to bring firefighters and equipment to the island as well as providing other support.
