    Crusaders track and field earns several top finishes at New Ulm Invite

    Thursday evening, the Mankato Loyola/Cleveland track and field team traveled to New Ulm to compete in a meet hosted by the Eagles. The Crusaders posted a handful of first-place finishes throughout the competition that saw the girls finish fourth as a team and the boys finish fifth.

    Highlights for the girls began in the 200 meter dash where Ava Hahn claimed second with a time of 28.66. In the 800m run, Savannah Meyer finished first with a time of 2:33.69 followed by teammate Izzy Endres who finished fifth with a time of 2:48.56.

    Meyer also finished first in the 1600m run with a time of 5:44.11 followed closely by Charlotte Meyer who claimed second with a time of 5:46.50 while Endres finished third with a time of 6:14.96. Maddie Huiras swept the hurdles claiming first in the 100m with a time of 19.01 followed by first in the 300 with a time of 51.68.

    The 4x100m relay team of Hahn, Lea Taylor, Mylie Krenik and Maddie Cooney finished third with a time of 57.01. The 4x400m relay team of Huiras, S. Meyer, Cooney and Hahn also claimed third with a time of 4:38.04.

    The relay squad of Lily Philips, C. Meyer, Hannah Coudron and Gisele McCabe finished third in the 4x800m race with a time of 11:44.70. In the discus, Sawyer Ettesvold posted a PR throw of 78 feet and seven inches to finish sixth.

    Boys highlights began in the 800m run where Mitchell Buboltz claimed fifth with a PR time of 2:22.94. In the 1600m run, Soren Kelley (4:57.41), Sam Vetter (5:03.48) and Nathan Strobel (5:08.33) finished first second and fourth respectively.

    In the 3200m run, Reece Nelson claimed fifth with a PR time of 13:42.55.

    Casey Fogal finished first in the 110m hurdles before finishing second in the 300m hurdles with a PR time of 47.44. The 4x800m relay team of TJ Waldron, Buboltz, Andrew Tieva and Elijah Mons finished third with a time of 9:45.50.

    In the shot put, Danny Wood claimed first with a PR throw of 35’3” before Crhstian Barker finished first in the discus with a top mark of 115’7”.

    The Crusaders are scheduled to return to action Thursday, May 2, when they travel to NRHEG to compete in an invitational hosted by the Panthers. Events are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
