Saints continue to improve in home meet

Monday evening, the St. Peter track and field program hosted New Ulm and Windom Area in its first home meet of the 2024 spring season. The girls squad cruised to a first-place finish with 165 points, 75 more than New Ulm, while the boys also finished first with 128 points, 28 more than New Ulm.

Girls highlights began with Liliana Prunty earning third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.96. In the 200m dash, Vivian Hendrickson finished first with a time of 28.49.

In the 400m dash, Robin Hibscher claimed first with a time of 1:05.24. Keira Friedrich (5:08.48), Kady Thoms (6:01.90) and Madison Petersen (6:10.54) finished 1-2-3 in the 1600m run. In the 3200m run, Thoms and Mackenzie Steinborn finished first and second with times of 13:22.84 and 13:41.85.

Lydia Fell (16.36), Kyla Yost (17.75) and Rowyn Myhra (18.03) claimed the top three finishes in the 100m hurdles. Myhra and Yost then finished first and second in the 300m hurdles with times of 53.65 and 55.67.

In the 4x200m relay race, Adeline Letts, Fell, Macey Portner and Prunty finished first with a time of 1:54.52. The 4x400m relay team of Noelle Simonette, Prunty, Hendrickson and Hibscher then finished first with a time of 4:25.53.

Field events saw Samantha Madden claim first in the shot put with a top throw of 30 feet even while Annika Magelee finished second in the discuss with a mark of 87’10”. In the high jump, Myhra and Fell tied for first with a top clear of 4’9”.

Magelee finished first in the pole vault with a top clear of 9’9” while Laura Klatt cleared 9’ to finish third. In the long jump, Prunty (15’10”), Trista Landsom (14’3”) and Simonette (14’1”) finished 1-2-3 for the Saints.

Hendrickson (33’0.25”), Addison Landsom (32’1.25”) and Portner (30’5”) claimed the top three finishes in the triple jump to wrap up the girls results.

Boys highlights began with the 100m dash where Isai Morales (11.84) and Ramiro Alcantara Alvarez (11.91) finished second and third. In the 200m dash, Derek Guth finished first with a time of 23.42.

Roblae Abdi claimed second in the 3200m run posting a time of 10:55.18. In the 110m hurdles, Corbin Herron (14.47), Dayne Tollefson (17.59) and Blake Swanson (20.48) finished 1-2-3. Herron (39.76) and Tollefson (45.75) where then joined by Deontre Torees (47.31) in the 300m hurdles with the top three finishes once more.

In the 4x100m relay race, the team of Kemper Ely, Alcantara Alvarez, Morales and Elijah Mercado teamed up to finish first with a time of 45.32. In the 4x400m relay race, Alcantara Alvarez, Riley Kamm, Herron and Guth finished first with a time of 3:38.65.

Field highlights included Luke Banks finishing first in the shot put with a top mark of 44’9” while Cole Junso finished third with a mark of 38’7”. In the discus, Banks (176’9”), Parker Maloney (123’9”) and Junso (123’4”) finished 1-2-3.

Brock Guth finished first in the pole vault with a top clear of 11’ while Derek Guth finished second with a clear of 10’. In the long jump, Morales finished second with a top leap of 19’8.5” and in the triple jump, Herron finished second with a leap of 38’9” and Riley Kamm finished third with a mark of 35’5.5”.

The Saints are scheduled to return to action Thursday, April 18 when they travel to Waseca for a meet hosted by the Bluejays. Events are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
