Mohegan Bluffs staircase closed due to erosion
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and the town of New Shoreham announced the Mohegan Bluffs staircase is closed due to safety concerns. Officials said the bottom of the staircase is closed due to erosion causing a large drop at the base of the stairs to the beach below.
License commissioners approve one, deny one
Members of the Town Council convened as the Board of License Commissioners for the start of their meeting on June 3. On the agenda were two items: a Class F1 Liquor License request from the organizers of ConserFest for an event of the same name at the Southeast Lighthouse on June 23, and a request for a Class BVL license for the catering business Sediment, run by Madeline Murphy and Ebben Howarth.
