On April 11, Cora Snakenburg, a sophomore on the Oskaloosa girls' track and field team, was just about to begin preparation for the shot-put competition during a meet at East Marshall. As she began her routine, a gasp from spectators caught her attention after one of the volunteers measuring the discus event was hit in the back of the head after an errant throw.

Gezellig Brewing Company brews new batch of tulip-flavored beer for Tulip Time
PELLA, Iowa — Tulip Time kicks off in Pella next week and a local brewery is marking the occasion with a drink they think makes a perfect pairing. The small team at Gezellig Brewing Company in Newton used 300 red tulips harvested from Nunnikhoven Farm, located east of Knoxville in Marion County, to make this year's batch of Tulip Bier, released on Wednesday.
