Jackson food bank gets needed funding, food thanks to car show
Antique and other vehicles dotted a field April 6 at the 2024 Jackson Car Show. Admission to the show was $5 or a canned good, and from that The Helping in His Name Food Bank received $1,385 in “cash donations and a large barrel of nonperishables,” said food bank spokesperson and former director Beth Dawson.

Giants Advance to Second Round
The Jena Giants found out where they would be in the playoffs this past week as on Tuesday, April 16, the baseball brackets were revealed and the Giants earned the #10 seed. The Giants would draw the #23 seed Port Allen Pelicans in the first round of the playoffs. In the Division III Non-Select playoffs, teams have to win a three-game series in the first, second and quarterfinal round of the playoffs. So, the Giants would have to defeat Port Allen twice to move on to the second round.
