NEW ROADS, La. (BRPROUD) – Wine Down on False River is returning for the third time this weekend in New Roads.

The event “is a weekend filled with wine tastings from Napa Valley, local cuisine, art and live music all blended with New Roads’ signature small-town charm,” according to City of New Roads Main Street Program Director Paula Lambert.

She said that the food will come “from local Louisiana chefs, many from Pointe Coupee Parish.” Shopping will also be available on Main Street.

On Friday, April 12, guests will be able to enjoy a winemaker dinner with food and wine pairings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

On Saturday, April 13, there will be a sparkling wine reception from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and a grand tasting from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

If you are interested in attending, tickets are available online .

Children who are 12 and younger can attend for free, but Lambert said this “is more of an adult event than a whole family event.”

Bathrooms will be “available throughout the event, and a bathroom trailer will be located at City Hall parking lot at 211 West Main Street,” Lambert said.

If you drive to Wine Down on the False River, parking will be available downtown and it is free.

The Pointe Coupee Office of Tourism provided a story map for anyone who plans to attend. It includes a walking map that shows each stop.
