Overnight Marigny murder leaves man dead

Gunfire in the Marigny early Monday morning turned to murder when the victim died at the hospital.

"New Orleans Police are investigating a shooting incident which occurred at the intersection of Burgundy Street and Saint Roch Avenue,"  Public Affairs Officer Barry Fletcher said in a news release.

The call come out just before 1:30am.

"According to investigators, a male victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head."

EMS took the man to the hospital.

Later, Fletcher sent an email saying, "The victim of the shooting incident at Burgundy and Saint Roch has succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by physicians at the hospital."

He did not release any information on suspects of motive.
