Mayor proclaims May 11 Helen Sauer Day for 100-year-old mom
, In what he’s calling his first official act as the new mayor of Wimberley, Jim Chiles proclaimed May 11, 2024 as “Helen Sauer Day,” before a crowd of family, friends and well-wishers during a party at Deer Creek Nursing and Rehab on Saturday. According to the proclamation, Mrs. Sauer and her husband, Donald, sold one of the earliest Dunkin’ Donut franchises in Saratoga Springs, New York, and relocated to Wimberley in 1979 with their five children, urged by family friends, the Buxkempers. Free curbside debris pickup following storm
Beginning Monday, May 20, 2024, Ceres Environmental will collect brush and vegetative debris at residential addresses within San Marcos city limits. The crews are contracted by the city of San Marcos and will begin removing debris next week to allow residents ample time to prepare brush for pickup. The Wimberley Independent School District honored Teresa Isarraraz, an English as a Second Language Aide at Blue Hole Primary school, in April. She was awarded the district’s “Texan of the Month” honor. Texan of the Month honorees are nominated by WISD co-workers for positively exemplifying the district’s vision of excellence, innovation and service. 17-year-old arrested after bringing gun to a Schertz school, police say
SCHERTZ, Texas — A teen has been arrested after police say he brought a gun to the Allison Steele Learning Center in Schertz. On Monday around 9 a.m., the Schertz Police Department (SPD) responded to the Allison Steele Learning Center after receiving reports that a student had a gun on campus. A joint investigation with SPD and school administration was initiated to identify the student as soon as possible.
