Fremont-Mills 8th grade boys win state title to lead large KMAland contingent at middle school track championships
(KMAland) -- The Fremont-Mills 8th grade boys team won the small schools state title at the Mike Henderson Middle Schools Boys State Track Championships on Saturday. The Knights were led by runner-up finishes from Paxton Campbell in the 100 and 200, a pair of third-place finishes from Nash Moreland in the 200 hurdles and Gavin Crom in the shot put and a fifth-place run from the 4x400 meter relay team of Campbell, Moreland, Broden Zimmerman and Chance Ewalt.

North Platte waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They had just enough and edged the Nebraska City Pioneers out 5-4. North Platte's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rayce Moerke, who went 1-for-2 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.
