Salida welcomes home beloved 137-year-old train caboose
SALIDA, Colo. (KKTV) - It’s a big day for a small Colorado city!. Thursday afternoon, Salida is coming together to welcome an old friend back home. The 137-year-old Denver and Rio Grande Western caboose, a fixture in town since it was taken out of service in the 50s, was taken to Silverton more than two years ago for restoration work. The intention was always to bring it back to Salida at the end of the project -- and earlier this month, it returned in style!
