The event, regarded as the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebration in North Carolina, took place on March 19, along the beach road in Nags Head, under sunny skies with a brisk chill in the air.

Sunday, March 19 was a cold, crisp, but sunny day for the 32nd Annual Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Nags Head. The parade was back to its full glory. According to Mike Kelly, the parade’s founder, the 2023 parade was the best attended in its history. “It was the largest attendance to date, 10,000-11,000 on the sides of the road and 2000 participating in the parade,” he said.

Dare County Odyssey of the Mind Teams Advance to State Competition
Five teams from Dare County will advance to the Odyssey of the Mind state tournament in Raleigh, North Carolina on March 25. Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that encourages innovation and critical thinking. During Odyssey of the Mind competitions, students work together in groups with a coach to find creative solutions to long-term and spontaneous problems. Groups are given four months to solve, plan, and complete their designs for the long-term problem. The spontaneous problem is announced during the competition and requires quick thinking from group members. Each team works together to develop their own solutions and showcase their work during a group performance.
