PROSPER – Donovan Ross caught two touchdown passes in the first half and finished with 141 receiving yards as the Prosper Richland football team beat Frisco Memorial 35-20 in a District 4-5A Division II contest at Children’s Health Stadium. Ross, a senior wide receiver, hauled in eight receptions and played a significant role in the Raiders’ victory to keep their playoff hopes alive. “We need some help, but with the win we’re still in it,” said Richland head coach Kenneth Gilchrist. “We just need to win out and have some other things happen”. Richland (5-4, 3-4) took a 7-0 lead on junior Brighton Jones’ six-yard touchdown pass to Josiah Christian with 5:12 remaining in the first quarter. The Raiders went up 14-0 on Ross’ first score, a 48-yard pass from Jones at the 10:50 mark of the second frame. “Containing their passing game and making some big plays of our own on offense was something we had to do,” Gilchrist said. “Ross is a big target at 6-4 and has a knack for getting open.” The Warriors (3-6, 1-6) battled back in the second quarter.
