Glenwood man arrested for drug possession
A Glenwood man has been arrested after Pike County Deputy Chance Reid conducted a traffic stop on an unlicensed motorcycle on Rock Creek Cut Off in Glenwood. According to the affidavit, the driver was identified as 54-year Clifton Teel. Reid then reportedly ran Teel through an ACIC check and it showed that Teel had a search waiver on file. As reported when deputies started searching Teel, Deputy Micah Brown pulled a towel from Teel’s left arm of his jacket and a small clear bag containing suspected methamphetamine fell onto the ground. It was reported that as Brown continued to pull the towel, there was a glass smoking pipe and a red straw still in it.
NPD Officers responded to a domestic disturbance
On September 7th, 2023, Nashville Patrol Officer Jarrett Rogers responded to a domestic disturbance on Elm Street in Nashville. According to the affidavit, when officers arrived, they spoke with a female subject identified as Dariana Moreno. Moreno reportedly told officers that she and her boyfriend, identified as 21-year-old Ronald E Pineda, had gotten into an argument on East Peachtree Street and she had left the residence. As reported, Moreno asked officers to go to East Peachtree Street so she could get her belongings and return to Texarkana.

During Superintendent Tanya Wilcher’s report she took a moment to recognize the Murfreesboro Elementary School for receiving a B Essa score. Tammy Fogle Special Guest at 67 Gas & Grill October 10th
The special guest at the 67 Gas & Grill in Downtown Emmet, Arkansas on October 10th will be Tammy Fogle. Fogle is well-known in the Ark-La-Tex area for her vocal talents. She was featured for many years at the Columbia County Hayride in Magnolia. Joining her will be the Gas & Grill Band and all the Gas & Grill regulars. The program starts at 6pm and goes until 7:30pm and is absolutely free. Those attending will want to come early and enjoy a good meal from the kitchen. The public is invited.

EMMET – Stop by the Emmet Vision Association (EVA) annual yard sale Saturday, Oct. 7, starting at 7 a.m. This is part of the annual Garage Sale Heaven on Hwy. 67 that spans from Emmet to Gurdon. EVA’s sale will be set up at 3048 Hwy. 67 beside 67 Gas and Grill.
Nashville man arrested for drug possession
On September 10th, 2023, Nashville K9 Officer Greg Parker conducted a traffic stop on a white Chevy Cruz for expired temporary tags. The suspect was identified as 47-year-old Derrick T Gray of Nashville. According to the affidavit, Parker was familiar with Gray from a previous stop in which Gray threw drug paraphernalia and fled on foot. It was reported that Gray allegedly confessed to Parker that he had drug paraphernalia inside the car. It was also reported that after Gray gave Parker permission to search his car, Parker located a glass pipe with residue believed to be methamphetamine along with a gum wrapper that was in Gray’s wallet which contained a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Angela Noelle Weathermon, age 54, of Murfreesboro, Ark., passed from this life to the loving arms of Jesus Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, in Hot Springs, Ark. Angela was a happy person and she interacted well with others. She loved her music, Elvis Presley music, watching Jeopardy, Family Feud, the news, but more importantly her dog Muffin.

Emmet fall fest Oct. 21
EMMET – Emmet’s annual Fall Festival will be from 2-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at the former Emmet school. There will be bounce houses, a children’s train, face painting, photo booth, cornhole tourney, domino tourney and horseshoe tourney. There will also be plenty of food vendors and games.
Emmet cleanup day set
EMMET – Clean up day in Emmet has been set for Oct. 28. The cleanup will begin at 8 a.m. and go till it’s done. The cleanup will be at Arkla Park, with residents asked to “grab their gear” and help make the park clean and safe for children and the community.

Solar eclipse glasses now available from NCC
The Nashville Chamber of Commerce is now selling special solar eclipse viewing glasses, as modeled by NCC executive director Tim Pinkerton, for $2 a pair. The glasses are verified by the State of Arkansas and can be used to safely view the April 8, 2024 total eclipse of the sun.
