Mount Hope commercial building badly damaged in early morning fire

MOUNT HOPE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One of Mount Hope’s commercial buildings was badly damaged in a fire early Monday morning.

According to the Mount Hope Fire Department (MHFD), early this morning they were alerted to a vacant commercial building fire at 609 Main Street Mount Hope.

An engine and ladder arrived on the scene reporting heavy fire through the roof.

The building was the former Peggy Sue’s bar located on Main Street in Mount Hope.

Fayette County automatic mutual aid departments, Oak Hill and Pax were dispatched simultaneously.

The Raleigh County Tanker Taskforce which included Coal City, Mabscott, Lester, Beaver, Bradley, Ghent, Sophia area, Sophia City, and Trap Hill, departments provided assistance as well.
