SUMMARY: On December 9th, the Hattiesburg Convention Commission completed the Generations Strong Commemorative Wall at the Historic Eureka School by unveiling the final two panels featuring nine influential African Americans from Hattiesburg. The 375-foot wall, which was first revealed to the public on February 23rd, 2023, now celebrates over 170 individuals or families who have made a significant impact. The project, which began in 2019, was supported by the community and an advisory committee that devoted time to research and selection. The wall, viewable day and night, features QR codes linking to biographies of those honored.
