Travel advisory: Lane closures on I-290 in Town of Tonawanda
New York State Department of Transportation press release. The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that Interstate 290 (Youngmann Memorial Highway) westbound in the Town of Tonawanda, between Sheridan Drive (Route 324) and Maple Road, will be reduced from three lanes to one lane from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, to facilitate bridge repairs.

A 24 pump station with additional diesel pumps and a substantial cannabis retail operation is fundamentally at odds with the transformation that has been underway in the Ohio Street neighborhood (learn more). Substantial private and public investment and effort has been expended to create a more family-friendly, entertainment and recreation-based waterfront environment. It is probable that the scale and location of the gas station complex will seriously undermine that investment and discourage further positive development.
