'Everywhere You Look, UT' mural
NEWPORT — The artist who painted the mural by the courthouse is back in Newport creating a new artwork. Curtis Glover of Knoxville is painting one of the University of Tennessee murals, “Everywhere You Look, UT” on the side of the Aire Serv building in Newport. Glover explained he and his business partner put in a bid to complete the murals and he has done close to a dozen of the murals throughout East Tennessee. He said that an artist from Illinois has completed around 30 of them. The goal is for UT to get a mural in each of the 95 counties in the state. Glover said UT pays the artist to paint the mural. The murals are usually painted on buildings belonging to UT graduates. Glover had painted the UT mural on the barn off West Andrew Johnson Highway. The barn was destroyed in a fire at the end of 2023.
