The Central Coast Section softball playoffs begin this weekend for four local qualifiers hoping to go on a section title run to cap off their season. Aptos, Scotts Valley and Watsonville will begin their quest for a championship starting on the road, while San Lorenzo Valley is the lone school in the county to host a game.

Watsonville High junior Katelynn Ruiz and several other local athletes are set to compete in this weekend’s Central Coast Section Track and Field Championships in Gilroy. The Wildcatz standout distance runner advanced in the 3200-meters finals after she finished in 11 minutes, 30.11 seconds during the semifinals at Gilroy High School on May 11.
