Monroe man killed in Erie Township crash

ERIE — A three-car crash left one person dead in Erie Township on Monday evening, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

Monroe resident Gary Akridge, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Mr. Akridge was traveling northbound in an SUV on Telegraph Road at about 11:45 p.m. when he crossed the centerline and struck an SUV driven by Ghassan Haddad, 58, of Dearborn, Mich.

The SUV driven by Mr. Akridge overturned and was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Kaylee Stachowiak, 19, of Monroe.

Ms. Stachowiak and passengers in the other two vehicles were transported to Toledo-area hospitals, where they are listed in stable condition.

The crash is still under investigation.
