Hopkins High’s girls lacrosse team is off to one of the best starts in program history with a 3-1 record this spring.

The Royals are 1-1 in conference games and show more consistent scoring than they’ve had in the recent past.

Early in the conference season, three Lake teams are tied in the loss column with Eden Prairie (2-0), Wayzata (2-0) and Minnetonka (1-0). With a 4-0 overall mark, Minnetonka is the favorite to win the title. Eden Prairie has an overall record of 5-1.

Kaci Kotschevar, Josie Wallace and Sara David all had three goals for the Eagles. Josie Wallace was the assist leader with four. Danika Weiland was the main force for STMA with her six goals.

In another Lake game on the 23rd, Hopkins outlasted Buffalo in an 11-9 game. Lindsay Schuchard scored six goals and added two assists for the Royals. Tori Katzenmeyer added a hat trick and Madeline Wood and Lucy Johnson each scored a goal. Evelyn Osland made eight saves in Hopkins’ goal. Jasmine Jorgensen, Hannah Rosso and Hattie Toussaint each scored two goals for the Bison.

The Minnetonka girls defeated Elk River 11-10 in a non-conference match. Lilly Palm was the No. 1 star for the Skippers with five goals and teammate Ava Wixo added three. Ruby Swenson, Maddie Moen and Maria Demann had the other Minnetonka goals. Jordyn Helling did her part with two assists. Adi Rothschild posted the win in goal.

Hopkins had convincing wins in two recent non-conference matches.

The Royals used five goals from Katzenmeyer and four goals each from Schuchard and Avery Shaw to beat Apple Valley 16-3. Schuchard added three assists. Berit Peterson had a goal and an assist for the Royals.

In a 16-6 win at St. Louis Park, Schuchard had eight points on five goals and three assists. Katzenmeyer had an eight-point day, as well, with four goals and four assists. Madeline Wood chipped in with four goals. Also scoring for Hopkins were Shaw, Peterson and Summer Seurer. Bella Bisbee and Osland each play half of the match in goal.
