Disagreement in case of Carthage man’s Jan. 6 involvement forces sentencing reschedule
WASHINGTON, D.C. (KLTV) - The sentencing for an East Texas man convicted of taking part in the Jan. 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol riot hit a roadblock Thursday. Alex Kirk Harkrider, 37, of Carthage, was found guilty of federal charges linked to his involvement in the riot, known to many as simply Jan. 6, on Jan. 2, 2024. His federal sentencing was scheduled for Thursday in Judge Royce C. Lamberth’s court, but a disagreement between the defense and the government during the hearing resulted in the decision being pushed back to an undetermined later date.
