South Tahoe capitalizes on Fernley turnovers to shock Vaqueros
Five costly turnovers doomed the Fernley High School football team last Friday, overshadowing a resilient defensive effort in a narrow 19-16 loss to South Tahoe. With the help of those five Fernley turnovers, South Tahoe’s defense held the Vaqueros to 165 total yards, limiting Fernley to just 30 total offensive plays, compared to South Tahoe’s 60, allowing the Vikings to control the clock and keep the Fernley offense sidelined.

Previews and predictions for every Northern 5A/4A high school football game in Week 5
Every week, we will preview and offer a prediction for every Northern Nevada 5A and 4A game high school football game. Here is our Week 5 preview. Bishop Manogue at Reno: This is a fascinating matchup of arguably the best 4A North team in Reno facing a 5A Manogue team that's 0-4. The Miners haven't started a season with four straight losses since 2014, and never done so under head coach Ernie Howren. Outside the second half of its game against Churchill County, Manogue has been outscored 114-31. The offense has not looked good, but the Miners have played a difficult schedule, largely against high-level California teams. The Huskies are coming off back-to-back dominant wins over California teams. Reno's run-game has been impressive with 643 rushing yards while averaging 5.7 yards per carry in three games. Manogue has allowed 172 rushing yards per game, so Reno should have success on the ground. But I think the Miners are going to be desperate to pick up a win before league play starts. Prediction: Manogue 28, Reno 24.
