New Online Exhibit focuses on Natick’s Post Office Mural
On Oct. 17, a standing-room only crowd gathered at Natick Historical Society for the presentation of a new online exhibit about the mural John Eliot Speaks to the Natick Indians, located in Natick’s Post Office at 15 Common St. Painted by local artist Hollis Holbrook in 1937, the mural depicts the forced removal of the Indigenous inhabitants of Natick in 1675 during Metacom’s Rebellion, also known as King Philip’s War. They spent the winter on Deer Island in the Boston Harbor, where nearly half perished from starvation, disease, and exposure.

BMR football wins back-and-forth clash with Keefe Tech marred by fight
BLACKSTONE— The MIAA Division 8 Round of 16 football game between No. 6 Blackstone-Millville (7-2, 1-2 CMAC D) and No. 11 Keefe Tech (6-3, 3-0 CMAC F) on Saturday, Nov. 7 had all the makings of an instant classic: a hard-fought, back-and-forth battle between two evenly matched sides on a cool fall afternoon in the Blackstone Valley. Unfortunately, much like the field after a rain-soaked Friday , the ending muddied things up. Trailing 28-22 with just seconds on the clock, Broncos' sophomore quarterback Kelton Fertel tossed a Hail Mary deep downfield for junior wide receiver Hunter Duran, only for it to be picked off by his counterpart, Chargers senior quarterback/defensive back Karson Cournoyer, near midfield to seal the deal and book BMR's place in the Elite Eight. Then, near the Keefe Tech sideline, emotions boiled over as a fight broke out between the two teams, resulting in the ejection of a few Broncos players as well as Chargers senior wide receiver/defensive back/kicker Nathan Oliveira. The referees, consulting with the Blackstone Police, called the game with 0:04 seconds left and made both teams and fans exit the stadium separately, starting with the visitors.
