Crash shut down I-55 North near Litchfield, Illinois
LITCHFIELD, Ill. (First Alert 4) - A section of Interstate 55 North near the Litchfield exit in Montgomery County, Illinois was shut down due to a commercial motor vehicle crash. The truck was carrying hazardous materials, but local emergency management officials say there was no spill or breach of the containers.

EMS Workers Week: The Need for Emergency Medical Responders
ASSUMPTION, Ill. (WAND) — It's EMS Workers Week and people across the community are showing appreciation and support for Emergency Medical Responders. In Assumption the entire ambulance service is made up of volunteers that come together to support the community in an emergency when their support is needed most. Alex Stringer, Chief of the Assumption Ambulance Service said, "Having emergency medical responders and EMS systems is extremely important, especially in rural communities just because resources are limited."
Softball Game Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short
Martinsville and Central A & M squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Martinsville had to settle for second. They lost 7-0 to the Central A & M Raiders. Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Central A & M, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.
4 sentenced for bungled gun store burglaries
A federal judge has sentenced four people for their parts in a gun store burglary ring that tried to grab weapons from five counties in Central Illinois, including McLean. Dezmond Hardy, 23, Shaleik Ward, 20, Terrence Daniels, 23, and Erika Garner, 22, are all from Peoria. They admitted attempting and failing to break into gun stores in Bloomington, LeRoy, Lincoln, Decatur, Spring Valley, and Taylorville in August 2023.
169 Taylorville High School Graduates Receive Diplomas at Commencement Friday Night
It was a packed house Friday night as the community came to the Taylorville High School West Gym and witness the 169 graduates of the Class of 2024 receive diplomas. The event, which lasted just over an hour and was broadcast live on WRAN groovy 97-point-3, began with the traditional processional “Pomp and Circumstance” as those about to graduate entered the gym. Jay Bliler gave the ceremony’s invocation.
