The Week Ahead in Beer: Calavida Cantina adds new offsite location
The last time we talked to co-owner/brewer Martin Ulloa at Calavida Cantina, he mentioned that he had some new ideas/projects, including an off-site location. He promised it would be rather unique and not a heavy-lifting operation, which seemed smart since at the time he was still getting his full-sized brewhouse up and running at the old Boxing Bear building on Alameda. Well, that project is happening as Calavida Cantina announced this week that their newest location will be at the Kraemer Fields on the opposite side of Albuquerque. The soccer complex is located east of Broadway at 2811 Karsten Ct SE. Quarter Celtic had operated the small taproom space in the past, but bowed out after a year. Now, Calavida Cantina will take a shot at the space, opening this Sunday at 11 a.m. Beer and cocktails will be available. We will meet up with Ulloa and his team soon for our Look Back/Look Ahead Series (we wanted to give him a little time to get those beers churning on the now-operational brewhouse) and chat more about this space and what else is coming down the pipeline. Until then, may those delicious drinks take away some of the pain one incurs playing the beautiful game, especially for anyone over 40.
