Car hits, kills pedestrian on Midlothian sidewalk

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A driver struck and killed a pedestrian near the intersection of Lucks Lane and Spirea Drive in Midlothian, Virginia, on Friday morning, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett and Chesterfield Police later confirmed.

"At about 8:19 a.m., police said, a 2019 Volkswagen sedan was traveling west on Lucks Lane when it struck a 2012 Toyota sedan that was making a left turn onto Spirea Lane," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson wrote in an email. "The Volkswagen sedan veered off the right side of the roadway striking a pedestrian on the sidewalk. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. At the hospital the pedestrian was pronounced dead."

The name of the person who was killed has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Traffic lanes in that area were closed as the Chesterfield Crash Team investigated.
