Wesleyan track competes in Adidas Trojan Challenge

Members of the North Carolina Wesleyan University track teams participated in the Seventh Annual Adidas Trojan Challenge on Friday at Mount Olive University.

On the women’s side, Ti’asia Bryant finished second in the 100-meter dash (11.95 seconds) and seventh in the 200-meter dash (25.70), while Kamiyah Wooten was seventh (1:00.87) and Mariah Brooks took 13th (1:10.25) in the 400-meter dash.

In addition, the women’s 400-meter relay team placed third (48.24) while Christian Van Norden was third in the shot put (38-10.25), 13th in the discus (88-05.75) and 15th in the javelin (50-08.25).

Also, Samantha Carmichael of Meredith College, a Rocky Mount Academy graduate, placed 16th in the shot put (24-05) and 19th in the discus (68-02).

On the men’s side for Wesleyan, Kiami McKnight was 20th in the 200-meter dash while Christian Hayes was 22nd (24.63).

Emmanuel Carrillo-Mendez took sixth in the 800-meter run (2:04.08), Quincy Brown (1:05.07) and Ethan Fay (1:05.24) were seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles, the Bishops’ 400-meter relay team was third (44.64) and Elijah King (19-00) and Brown (18-02.50) were 15th and 19th, respectively, in the long jump.

Desmond Barnes was 10th in the discus (128-06.50) while Sherfield Smith ended up 15th (104-08). Barnes also captured eighth in the shot put (40-02.25) while Smith was 12th (36-00).

Fay was fourth in the javelin (153-10) while Jameer Holmes was 10th (84-05.50) and Smith took 12th (66-10.25)
