2024 WMTV 15 News Crystal Apple Honorable Mentions
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - WMTV 15 News is honoring five Crystal Apple award recipients and naming 10 honorable mentions to recognize teachers in Southern Wisconsin this year. McCann was nominated for her dedication to teaching agriculture to her students and for her creativity. In one example, maple trees are tapped in the spring, near the school, and is cooked down to make maple syrup. Students then make homemade pancakes and syrup shaped like the letter of their first name.

Bus Rapid Transit system progresses, State St. construction complete
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Madison’s Bus Rapid Transit system is one step closer to being complete, construction of the downtown stations on State Street finished as of Friday. Organizers say the BRT system has reached some major milestones. Friday, buses returned to State Street and the stops will remain open until the system launches.

Wisconsin police chase, fatal crash; no charges for officer
DANE COUNTY, Wis. - The Wisconsin police officer involved in a pursuit that led to a fatal crash will not be criminally charged, officials announced on Friday, May 10. Monona police tried to stop a "suspicious vehicle" the night of Jan. 1, but the driver fled, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation said. The vehicle later crashed into a tree, and all three people inside died at the scene.
Colorful Sushi Lover is an all-you-can-eat paradise
At Madison’s newest sushi restaurant, the fire is fluorescent, the sushi is pink and the shrimp is sprinkled with cheese, Wisconsin-style. Sushi Lover, open since late March at 72 West Towne Mall, is the restaurant’s fourth Wisconsin location, following Sushi Lovers in Green Bay, Oshkosh and Appleton. The restaurant has dozens of rolls to choose from on its menu, including the Madison-friendly “Flamingo” with tuna, salmon, red snapper and avocado wrapped in baby pink soy paper.
