Fast Moving Squall Line With 50 to 65 MPH Gusts and Isolated Tornado Threat Targets Harrisburg, Scranton, Allentown, Philadelphia and Baltimore This Afternoon Into Evening
ALLENTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA — A fast-moving squall line is set to race across Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey and Delaware this afternoon into evening, bringing damaging wind gusts of 50 to 65 mph in the most intense cells. Forecasters describe the setup as a classic low CAPE, high shear pattern, common in the Northeast during the cool season. While damaging winds are the main threat, an isolated brief tornado or two cannot be ruled out across a corridor that includes Harrisburg, Scranton, Allentown, Philadelphia and Baltimore.

Strong Squall Line Brings 45 to 60 MPH Gusts to Harrisburg, Allentown, Scranton, and Philadelphia Friday Afternoon and Evening Ahead of Cold Front
PENNSYLVANIA — A strong cold front is moving into Pennsylvania Friday afternoon and evening, October 16, bringing a line of storms that will sweep quickly from west to east. Ahead of the front, temperatures will climb to 75 to 80 degrees or higher, with dew points of 64 to 69 degrees. That warm, humid air will add to the instability needed for strong storms. Damaging wind gusts are the main threat as the squall line moves through.
