Woman dead, man hospitalized following shooting in North Miami Beach
MIAMI — A woman is dead and a man was hospitalized after a shooting in North Miami Beach on Friday night.North Miami Beach Police shared on X that there was a "heavy police presence" at Northeast 18th Avenue and 159th Street before 9 p.m., shutting down the area for investigation. Police also asked the public to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.According to North Miami Beach, officers responded to the Marathon gas station at Northeast 159th Street and 18th Avenue about a ShotSpotter alert that indicated "17 rounds fired with 31 casings located." While traveling to the scene, police then received a call about two people at the gas station with gunshot wounds.When they arrived, officers found an unresponsive woman with a gunshot wound to her neck and a man who also had a neck gunshot wound. Both people were transported to the hospital, where, unfortunately, the woman died.NMBPD is still investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
