Legendary coach Doug Avrit retires after 22 years of Calaveras track and field excellence
Doug Avrit watched closely as Calaveras High School sophomore sprinter Evelyn Dart prepared to start the 200-meter race during the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Meet on May 17 at Davis Senior High School in Davis.The gun sounded, and Dart took off. Avrit, as he had done thousands of times before, watched intently as his runner neared the finish line. When Dart completed her race with a time of 26.78, it marked the end of the Calaveras track season.
