Man on Bond for Robbery Arrested After East Point Carjacking Leaves Victim Paralyzed
An individual previously bonded out for armed robbery has been arrested after a frightening carjacking incident in East Point that left one man paralyzed. According to East Point Police, the suspect attacked two men at a gas station on Virginia Avenue early on May 15, shooting one in the chest during the carjacking attempt. Despite surviving, the victim now faces a lifetime of paralysis from his injuries.

Couple charged with child neglect
A North Matewan couple were arrested earlier this week on child neglect charges. According to Mingo Magistrate Court documents, on May 13, officers went to the residence of Curtis Andrew Meade, 24, and Katie Jo Meade, 23, after receiving a mandated call from a STAT EMS worker, who court documents said had been dispatched to the residence, reporting on the living conditions inside the home.
