MERCER, Pa. (WKBN) – Police are investigating thefts from two different gun shops in the area.

The first one happened Sunday at Duke’s Sports Shop in Shenango Township, while the second happened Monday morning at Seconds Count Firearms in Mercer.

According to investigators, someone purposefully crashed a stolen car into the shop just after 5 a.m. Monday.

The car nearly hit a gas line and was still running when police and firefighters got to the scene.

District Attorney Pete Acker said 10 AR-15 firearms were taken but no ammunition.

Police are looking for up to five suspects who have not been identified.

Mercer Borough President Aaron Sines praised the quick response by local law enforcement.

“Everything was under control. Our police did a great job securing the scene, and you know, calling the State Police to get everybody up here and involved,” Sines said.

The car was reportedly stolen from Erie.

The ATF and Pennsylvania State Police also responded to the scene.

As of now, police suspect the two burglaries may be connected.
