Letter to the Editor: County raises taxes indirectly
The Box Elder Committee of Liberty respectfully disagrees with Commissioner Summers comment in the Tremonton Leader article dated May 1, 2024, that he “hasn’t raised taxes on residents during his tenure.” Commissioners Summers, Hadfield and Scott created a new tax for the unincorporated areas in 2016 after a roomful of citizens said, “no.” They did not listen and went ahead and passed it without the consent of the governed.
Wild About Utah: Outdoor public art retells Utah’s Golden Spike story
Early this spring, a semi-truck with a long flat bed pulled into the USU parking lot next to the cemetery and parked. Lashed down firmly on the flat bed was a giant railroad spike, covered in gold leaf and very impressive to see from a distance. But walking up to it, I could see it was covered in sculptured forms. There was an Indian astride a horse; the shaggy head of a buffalo. But what really caught my attention was the close up of the buffalo eye staring right at me. Reflected in the pupil was a steam engine, coming down the tracks, right at me. I felt the chill of the inevitable crash.
Registration now underway for Logan City Adult Softball Program
LOGAN – Registration is now underway for summer Adult Softball Program being offered by the Logan Parks and Recreation Department. The city’s website explains that its softball program is an opportunity for adults to play in organized and officiated leagues, with play available for men, women and co-ed teams at various skill levels.
