Mendocino College Student Art Show: A multi-sensory experience
Arriving a bit early for the Mendocino College Student Art Show’s opening reception on Thursday afternoon, April 25, three tables in the Center Theater foyer — bountifully laden with late-afternoon finger foods graciously provided by the Mendocino College Arts Program — are still covered in protective Saran Wrap: Acini di Pepe salad (delicious!); corn ribs with lime-cilantro crema; tiny, briny, black olives; a charcuterie board with roast beef, salami, a wheel of brie and a wedge of white and yellow cheeses all garnished with grapes and strawberries; pulled pork and apple slaw sliders; artichokes with butter; potato wedges; mushroom toast topped with vegan cheese and broccoli micro greens (also delicious!) and a cookie selection of brown butter, chocolate and peanut butter.

On May 4th, “Deadly Lady,” one of the first episodes filmed in Mendocino, will be screened at the Matheson Performing Arts Center at 4:00 pm (with a special introduction by resident Doug Nunn, who appeared in the episode back when he was much younger).

Community Library Notes: Kiddie literacy
In time for Mother’s Day, the library has added some gems to its robust collection of children’s books. A few are brand new, and others have been award-winners in recent years. We weren’t thinking only of mothers (and, by extension, all parental units) when we made our selections; we were prepping for a get-acquainted visit from the Community Center of Mendocino’s After School Enrichment Program earlier this week. The children were given a tour of the library, a story time with one of our librarians, and an opportunity to choose a book to check out. A few of their options are described below.
